Safety First and Expert Guiding at Tholo Matimba
I recently participated in a safari hunt at Tholo Matimba with Ray Parino, and I cannot recommend the experience highly enough. From the moment the hunt began, it was absolutely clear that safety is their number one priority.
Ray was incredibly thorough with his safety directions. Before we even headed out, we went to the range to sight the rifle and ensure everything was perfectly dialed in and that we were fully ready for the hunt. This attention to detail immediately built a high level of confidence.
Once in the blind, Ray's exceptional guiding skills really shined. He provided crystal-clear directions in the field. When looking at the game, his deep knowledge helped me easily recognize the maturity of my target species. This expertise is crucial because there is constantly a lot of activity out there, with many different species interacting at the same time.
Being well prepared was the absolute key to this successful safari. Ray and the Tholo Matimba team ensure you are ready for every variable. The mountainous farm and camp are beautiful. It was incredible to view wildlife from camp while preparing meals at the braai (grilling meat over an open flame). If you want a safe, educational and breathtaking hunting experience, this is the place to book.

I got that opportunity at Tholo Matimba. I harvested an absolute stud of a warthog. Before going out for the hunt, the Professional Hunter and Tholo Matimba Manager, Ray Parino took me to the rifle range to take some practice shots and discuss shot placement for various animals.
